RCCO TORONTO INSTITUTES THE
STUDY BURSARY

The RCCO Toronto Executive has created a new Special Education Projects Bursary Fund which will award financial assistance to students participating in an approved (by RCCO Toronto Executive) special education project.

In the November 2011 NEWSLETTER, you were made aware of the European Historical Organ Tour 2012 which is being led by William and Patricia Wright this coming summer.  This tour was endorsed by RCCO Toronto Executive as the first eligible project for which funds may be received and awards granted to student applicants.

Amounts of awards are limited to funds received.  Donations to the fund are eligible for a tax receipt and may name a specific project (approved by RCCO Toronto Executive) or may be given generally for future educational opportunities that may arise.  Please note that donations that name a specific individual cannot be accepted.

The aim of the fund is to provide financial assistance to students in need, and who would thereby benefit by participating in a worthwhile educational event for which no other means of assistance is available.  The fund serves two purposes:  first, to allow organizers of quality education projects that are in keeping with the values of the RCCO to seek funding opportunities for student participants; and second, to assist students whose financial resources may be insufficient to allow participation in those events.

FUND DETAILS

Establishment of the Bursary Fund:   RCCO Toronto will establish a fund to hold budgeted allocations and contributions as received for special educational projects that may arise from time to time.  Prior to allocation or receipt of funds for a specific project, said project must be approved by the RCCO Toronto Centre Executive as appropriate and in line with the aims of the RCCO and Toronto Centre.  Projects will only be accepted if there is no other grant or award funding available.

Funding of the Bursary Fund:   Monies received by way of contribution or budget allocation for an approved project, or for future projects (general use), will be retained until such time as disbursements are approved by the Toronto Centre Executive.  Designated funds will be applied only to the appropriate and approved project.  Please note that contributions naming specific individuals cannot be accepted.

Awards from the Bursary Fund:   Any student (as defined by the RCCO) who is 25 years of age or under at the time of submitting an application, and who is a member of the RCCO Toronto Centre, may be awarded assistance from the fund.  The amount of the assistance will be dependent upon assessed need, the number of applicants, and the overall amount of monies received and allocated towards an applicable project.  The amount of any award will be recommended by a committee of three members constituted by the RCCO Toronto Nominations Committee, consisting of, but not limited to, members of RCCO Toronto Executive.  Awards will be approved by the Executive.  Award recipients will commit to submitting a report of their experience within sixty days of completion of the project.

Bursary Awards Application:   Application for an award must be submitted to the President of the Toronto Centre prior to an established deadline for each approved project.  The application, which may either be in the form of a letter or by use of an issued applications form, should include the following information:

      – name of approved project;
      – name;  address;  telephone number;  email address;   date of birth;
